A content management system, or CMS for short, is a piece of software that enables ordinary non-technical people to create, manage, share, and publish "content". This usually includes features such as:

• Version histories of all changes made to a document
• A document repository with search capabilities
• A privilege system for controlling access to documents
• An interface to create and edit both the contents and the metadata of a document.

Sitellite is a web-based CMS used primarily to publish web site content. Sitellite provides all of the facilities above, along with many additional features that pertain moreso to web sites than to ordinary CMS scenarios.
